One of Six Rivers Land Conservancy’s earliest preserves, the Allen Lake Preserve was acquired by the conservancy in 1996, soon after the organization’s formation as Oakland Land Conservancy. The eight-acre parcel of land is a landlocked slice of a wetland complex, with its ownership by the land conservancy intended to protect the entire wetland from development. While difficult to access, the wetland complex can be seen from an overlook at the southernmost tip of the Sorensen Park & Nature Center’s trail system in Holly Township, Oakland County.
